The dream Catcher doll

                 The dream catcher Doll
                       THE PEACOCK DOLL

The Native Americans or the red Indians believe that the dream catcher is nothing more than a dream snare.  A place to protect, and catch all your good dreams. The dream catcher is a handmade doll or net, originally made by the Objibwa, of willow woven loose on a net or web.  Dream catchers were decorated with items that were meaningful such as beads or feathers
The dream catcher is hung above the bed to chase off and protect children from nightmares. Originally dream catchers were made of both sinew and willow. They were meant to last until the child became an adult.
The dream catcher was meant to filter the good dreams from the bad dreams; bad dreams wouldn’t get through due to the protection of the dolls, and would disappear with light of day. Good dreams would go through the net passing down the feathers onto the dreamer.

Broom comes from the word ‘besom’ .The besom or broom represents the practical and spiritual as well as both the male and the female. A broom physically cleans an area as well as drives away negative vibrations. Thus it is the basis of my dress for this dream catcher doll. Feathers are one of the most important features of a South American dream catcher doll so are used in bulk for this doll. They are meant to trap all the bad dreams and sweep away the negative omens from our lives as and when they are kept under the pillow.
